HarborCOV joins love is respect, among other local, regional, and national organizations, in acknowledging the prevalence of dating violence among teens in our community.

According to love is respect, 1 in 3 U.S. teens will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from someone they’re in a relationship with before becoming adults. In addition, nearly half (43%) of U.S. college women report experiencing violent or abusive dating behaviors.

A relationship may be unhealthy relationship if one partner is:

  • Not Communicating
  • Disrespectful
  • Not trusting
  • Dishonest
  • Trying to take control
  • Only spending time together
  • Pressured into activities
  • Unequal economically

A relationship may be abusive if one partner is:

  • Communicating in a hurtful or threatening way
  • Mistreating
  • Accusing their partner of cheating when it’s untrue
  • Denying their actions are abuse
  • Controlling
  • Isolating their partner from others

If you believe you might be in an unhealthy or abusive relationship, HarborCOV is here for you. You can contact our 24/7 hotline at 617-884-9909 at any time to access support. For teen specific resources for yourself or a loved one, visit loveisrespect.org or text LOVEIS to 22522.
