According to love is respect, 1 in 3 U.S. teens will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from someone they’re in a relationship with before becoming adults. In addition, nearly half (43%) of U.S. college women report experiencing violent or abusive dating behaviors.
A relationship may be unhealthy relationship if one partner is:
- Not Communicating
- Disrespectful
- Not trusting
- Dishonest
- Trying to take control
- Only spending time together
- Pressured into activities
- Unequal economically
A relationship may be abusive if one partner is:
- Communicating in a hurtful or threatening way
- Mistreating
- Accusing their partner of cheating when it’s untrue
- Denying their actions are abuse
- Controlling
- Isolating their partner from others
